How to install Guitar Pro 6 on Ubuntu 64 bit
When upgrading Ubuntu i found out that GuitarPro 6 does not run out of the box on 64bit systems. After installing with dpkg -i your apt-get won\'t work anymore as you expect it to work. So I searched the internet and collected solutions and finally I assembled a solution that worked for me. Tested on a Linux Mint 14 (Nadja)

Go to directory where GuitarPro6.deb is. This directory has to be writeable

# convert deb to tar file
dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile GuitarPro6.deb > gp6.tar

# from now on, we need to be root for everything
sudo -s

# extract it where the deb would install everything
tar -C / -xvf gp6.tar

cd /opt/GuitarPro6/

# execute these lines on 64 bit systems
apt-get install ia32-libs
apt-get install libportaudio2:i386

# execute this on 32 bit systems
apt-get install libportaudio2

# to avoid problems with zlib
ln -s `find /lib -name`

# return to user

# run GuitarPro
sh /opt/GuitarPro6/

drag and drop the Soundbanks.gpbank into Guitar Pro. If there are two of these files, choose the smaller one
